Pizza nights are something my kids look forward to and this homemade pizza crust recipe makes it even more fun. Your family will love the flavor profile the sourdough starter adds to your crust and you will love how easy it is to mix the dough in the morning, and have it ready by evening.
Sourdough Pizza Crust
- 1 cup active sourdough starter
- 1 cup warm water
- 2-3 cups flour
- 2 tbsp cornmeal
- 2 tbsp olive oil or avocado oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp honey
Mix starter and warm water. Add oil and honey, mixing well. Mix together 1 – 1/2 cups flour with salt and cornmeal. Add wet ingredients and stir. Add more flour until a light dough is formed.
Cover and let rest for 6-8 hours.
Sprinkle additional cornmeal onto countertop, half the dough and form into pizza crusts, using your hands to press the dough. Do not use a rolling pin, as this will eliminate a lot of the air from your dough and leave you with a more dense crust.
Transfer crusts to a cookie sheet or pizza stone. Top with desired toppings.
Bake at 425 degrees for 13-15 minutes.
This recipe is enough to make 2 – 10” crusts.
