Beef & Broccoli Skillet Dinner

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 12 oz broccoli florets – cut into bite-sized pieces and blanched or broiled
  • 1/4 cup Bragg’s Aminos (or soy sauce)
  • 4 tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 tsp minced garlic
  • 3 tsp rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp ground ginger
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp corn starch
  • 1 pinch red pepper chili flakes
  • 3 cups cooked rice

In a bowl, whisk together Bragg’s aminos (or soy sauce), brown sugar, garlic, ginger, vinegar, oil, and 1 1/2 cups of the chicken broth. Set aside.

Brown ground beef in a skillet until cooked well, drain grease from cooked meat and return meat to the pan. Over medium-high heat, add liquid from the bowl that is set aside to the meat. Stir well and reduce heat to a simmer.

In a small bowl, mix remaining 1/2 cup chicken broth with corn starch, whisking together well. Add this to the simmering mixture and stir well. Add chili flakes. Allow to simmer for 3-4 minutes, or until sauce starts to thicken. Gently fold in cooked broccoli and serve immediately over cooked rice.
